General
- The earnings from your lessons are displayed in the Dashboard under the menu item “Earnings”. Here you will find a detailed list of all credited lessons.
- Lessons will only be paid if both student and tutor have joined the correct booking on GoStudent via the “Start lesson” button.
- Lessons can only take place if there is a corresponding booking and must be started at the arranged time. (There is a margin of 9 minutes before and 29 minutes after the scheduled start time when the link is fully functional and the earnings are correctly allocated. Example: Lesson is booked for 12:00. The link is fully functional when entering the lesson between 11:51 and 12:29 of the same day).
Standard rate earnings
The earning system for Online Tutoring works like this:
- For each regular lesson, you will receive a base rate of £12 or £13, depending on the subject taught. You can find current your base rates for lessons (50 minutes) in your Dashboard in the Earnings Section. It is obligatory to fill in the feedback in the Dashboard in order to receive the payment for your lesson! You have 24 hours after each lesson to fill this in. After each regular lesson, you can give more detailed feedback to the student and/or parent in GoChat if you wish.
You will receive £13 for a trial lesson if the student attends and decides to join GoStudent as a regular customer. The feedback must be completed and the trial must have subsequently converted to a regular student.
- If you do not show up for a regular lesson, we will deduct £15 from your account, and if you do not show up for a trial lesson we will deduct £25 from your account.
- If you cancel a trial lesson at any time before it begins, a fee of £10 will be deducted automatically from your earnings.
- If you click on ‘Previous lessons’ in your ‘Earnings' tab, you will find a detailed list of all your tutoring lessons that you have held in the past, as well as the bonuses you have earned. This helps you to keep track of everything!
Bonus
The bonus model consists of two bonuses: the trial lesson bonus and the student loyalty bonus. The trial lesson bonus rewards converting trial lesson students into regular students, whereas the student loyalty bonus rewards both lesson volume and regular teaching. When you qualify, the bonuses are added on top of your lesson rate and paid out with your monthly payout. You can qualify for one or both bonuses.
Your performance in a given month sets your lesson rate for the following month. Bonus requirements will be evaluated once per month and rates adjusted accordingly. New lesson rates apply from the 1st of the following month.
To track your current progress, next month’s bonus eligibility and full bonus tiers go to Dashboard > Earnings > Tutor bonus dashboard.

Payout
Tutors receive their payments on a monthly basis. Payment is made for the balance earned between the first and last day of the month. This is paid between the 8th and the 14th of the following month in order to allow for any manual adjustments. This also applies if the collaboration is terminated due to a serious violation on the part of the tutor and the tutor is owed a payment.
In order to provide students with regular lessons, tutors are encouraged to teach at least 6 lessons per week (25 lessons per month).
Since frequent and short-term cancellations have a negative effect on a student's learning, tutors will have £10 deducted if they cancel a trial before it begins and a £25 deduction from their balance if they fail to attend a trial lesson. £15 will be deducted if they fail to attend a regular lesson.
If an earnings adjustment needs to be made to the records of your tutoring lessons (e.g. because a lesson is missing from the Dashboard or the feedback has not registered correctly), these adjustments must be made no later than the 3rd of the calendar month following the lesson. Only if the adjustment is made by the 3rd of the following month can the lesson be included with the payment.
Questions & Problems
Earnings Adjustments
In case your lesson earnings are missing or not shown correctly, after 3 hours you will be able to request an earning adjustment via the Dashboard. Be sure to comment why the earnings are incorrect and provide evidence (a screenshot of the student/trial conversation). For any further questions, please reach out to the support number.
Automated return of lesson credits
GoStudent has two automations in place that will simplify your life in case a lesson credit needs to be returned to your student. This could be caused by technical difficulty during the lesson, or if someone forgot to reschedule the lesson in advance etc. You do NOT have to reach out to GoStudent at all in the cases described, but can self-serve independently! 💪
Case 1️⃣: No one (neither tutor nor student) joined the GoClassroom OR only the student joined the GoClassroom (tutor no-show)
When no one or only the student joins a lesson in the GoClassroom, the lesson credit is automatically returned to the student 50 minutes after the lesson start time. The student is able to see the returned credit in the "Credits History" in the Membership section of their GoStudent profile.
Example: The lesson start time is 09:00. When no one or only the student joins the GoClassroom, the lesson credit is automatically returned to the student’s credit balance at 09:50. In the Student Dashboard, it will show as “Credit returned”, the date stating the lesson date.
Student Dashboard:

Attention
We strongly advise against holding lessons outside of GoClass. When you adjust your lesson earnings from zero or penalty (tutor no-show) to full tariff or student no-show tariff, upon adjustment approval, one lesson credit is deducted again from the student’s balance!
Case 2️⃣: Tutor received lesson payment (full tariff or student no-show tariff) but wants the student credit to be returned
In case the tutor received payment for their lesson, but for some reason wants to give the credit back to the student (e.g. the lesson could not be held properly because of technical difficulties), the tutor may waive their lesson payment by adjusting their lesson earnings to zero. When requesting an earnings adjustment, in the "Who attended?" field, choose the option "No one. The lesson was rescheduled." As soon as the adjustment request is approved, the student credit is returned.
In the Student Dashboard, it will show as “Admin”, the date stating the date when the adjustment request was approved.
