GoClass

GoClass is our virtual classroom and a workspace where you can save and access all the work you are doing with your students. GoClass is a tool that features video, audio & screen sharing as well as Google integration to share, create and upload documents. It also has a collaborative whiteboard with countless features and the option to link the whiteboard to a tablet as well as a lead mode that gives you the opportunity to support your student to better focus and follow the session.

User modes

Lead mode

Can only be activated and deactivated by the tutor. The student(s) will follow all the actions of the tutor and be able to edit documents shared by the tutor.

Read-only mode

The student will only be able to see what the tutor sees without taking action themselves.

Class timer

  • The class timer only starts when both you and your student are connected
  • If the connection by either the tutor or the student is lost, the timer pauses
  • There is an additional 20 minute buffer window at the end of class if more time is needed. After that, both tutor and student are kicked out of the session
  • For “no-shows” you must remain in the classroom for 10 minutes and attempt to contact the student

Ending a session

To end your lesson, you must click the end class button. Keep in mind that this button only appears after 20 mins.

If the button doesn’t appear, all active sessions will be closed by the end of the day.

Basic troubleshooting

  1. Audio and video are buffering
    • Press CTRL + F5 during the session. Wait patiently for 30 seconds until it refreshes. No information is lost from the active session.
  2. The camera/ microphone is not connected:
    • Check browser permissions and allow both mic and camera.
  3. Unable to share PDF document
    • Upload PDF as a file or upload the pdf via the chat
  4. Low quality live performance (e.g. the video is stopped while using the whiteboard)
    • Disable video while using this tool. Close other programs and tabs other than the virtual classroom.
  5. The access page is blocked
    • Temporarily disable antivirus (for the duration of the session) or enable URL permissions within the user's antivirus.
