Availabilities

Where and how do I enter or delete my availabilities?

Via your calendar in the GoStudent Dashboard; you can enter, change and delete availabilities at any time with just a few clicks.

This is how it works in detail:

  1. Go to "Lesson overview" in the menu and click "Go To Calendar" in the bottom right-hand corner. Click on a time slot of your choice and drag the cursor over all the fields you want to enter. This will highlight them in green.
  2. Click on the "Save" button below the calendar (they should turn from green to blue) and reload the page to check that everything has been saved.
  3. To delete an entry, simply click again on an entered field so that the marking disappears. Then confirm again by clicking on the "Save" button.

Tips

  • Always enter availability as early as possible (2 weeks in advance would be optimal).
  • Enter as many availabilities as possible.
  • If possible, enter availabilities for primetime (3pm-7pm) as this is when most students have their classes.

Your GoStudent Calendar: A Comprehensive Guide

How do I manage my calendar?

Let's make your tutoring life easier! This guide will help you effectively manage your schedule and availability within the GoStudent platform.

📆 Managing Your Calendar

Your GoStudent Dashboard features a user-friendly Calendar tab where you can seamlessly control your teaching schedule. Here's how to make the most of it:

  • Setting Your Availability:

    • Open Slots: Navigate to CalendarEdit Schedule to select and save your available time slots.

  • Slot Duration: Remember that each slot represents the start time of a lesson.
    • Regular lessons last 50 minutes.
    • Trial lessons are 30 minutes.
  • Strategic Slot Planning: Consider lesson durations when setting your availability. For example, if you're available from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, open only a 3:00 PM slot to avoid potential scheduling conflicts. A 50-minute lesson booked at 3:30 PM would end at 4:20 PM.

  • Managing Your Student Capacity:

  • Update Availability Regularly: After connecting with a new student, update your availability to prevent overbooking and ensure you have enough time for your existing students.

2 things to keep in mind:

  1. Student Self-Booking: Your existing students can now easily book lessons themselves based on your available slots! This promotes independence, ensures a smoother learning process, and helps keep your calendar filled.
  2. Recurring Lessons: Your students can now request recurring lessons. While the first lesson is booked based on your availability, please review the recurring slots. If any don't work for you, kindly reschedule as soon as possible and discuss the changes with the student via GoChat.

  • No More Capacity? If you've reached your student capacity, navigate to CalendarSchedule Settings and simply check the box that says "I don't have capacity for additional students" and hit ‘Save’. This will prevent you from being booked for Trial Lessons or being shown in the tutor replacement flow, where students can select tutors themselves based on their availability. Meanwhile, you can still open availability slots for your existing students to self-book.

  • Reached your capacity within a specific subject: in case you don't want new students to connect with you for lessons in a particular subject, ensure that you update your teaching levels in your ProfileProfessional experience > Subjects you teach. Click on the subject for which you have reached your student capacity and change the teaching level to "Currently not taking on further students".
Example: If you teach German and English and don't want new German students, change your teaching level preference for German. New English students are still able to connect with you based on your availability.

  • Setting Your Trial Lesson Notice Period: Choose how much advance notice you require for Trial Lessons: 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours. This way you will always have enough time to plan your upcoming Trial Lesson.

Based on the experience of our top tutors, we have also put together some valuable tips for taking your GoStudent Calendar game to the next level.

⭐ GoStudent Calendar Best Practices

  • Keep your calendar fresh: Update your availability at least on a weekly basis.
  • Take the initiative and book the first lesson with new students: Kick off the learning journey of new students by starting the conversation and getting the first lessons booked.
  • Prioritize your existing students: Keep your existing students happy by offering open slots for self-scheduling.
